Privacy/Disclaimer Statement

International Women in Communications (“IWIC”) understands the importance of your privacy. IWIC only collects personal information when you join as a member of IWIC, register for one of our events or use/purchase WAI’s products or services.

Information Collection and Use

IWIC is the sole owner of the information collected by IWIC on the IWIC web site. Personally identifiable information, like an e-mail address, is used only for the purpose of administering and executing existing information for member records and applications. Information will not be added to a marketing list, sold or shared. We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process when it is necessary to share information in order to prevent or investigate illegal activities, suspected fraud, violations of IWIC’s terms of use, or as otherwise required by law.

Cookies and Server Logs

IWIC automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, IWIC cookie information, and the page you request. We use this information for improving our services by monitoring server activity. IWIC reserves the right to set and access IWIC cookies on your computer. These cookies are not used for advertisement but are used as a secure way to know who you are as you complete membership activities, online registration processes, or access other web site products or services. If you choose not to enable cookies you may still use IWIC online, however, you may not be able to use some online products or services.

Email Communication to You From IWIC

 

  • IWIC currently uses email communication to communicate with members. IWIC currently uses a public service provided by Yahoo Groups owned and operated by Yahoo! Inc. IWIC members must join Yahoo Groups in order to join the IWIC mailing list. An individual is deemed to be a member of IWIC if they are a registered user of the Yahoo Group’s IWIC mailing list. Yahoo’s privacy policy can be read at http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/. All posts to the IWIC list are moderated by the President of IWIC or someone authorised by the President. Members posting to the list should be aware that their email addresses will be viewable by other members of the IWIC mailing list.
  • Membership of the mailing list is a discretionary decision made by the President of IWIC. The President will accept all sincere applications from individuals involved or interested in communications in Japan. While the lists primary focus is for women in communications in Japan men who support the goals of IWIC are welcomed.
  • The mailing list is used to provide information of relevance (as decided by and at the full discretion of the moderator) to IWIC members.
  • Each of these email messages lists unsubscribe options. Members can unsubscribe by following the instructions. Yahoo Groups also provides every member with full access to a range of membership management services, including unsubscribe options. You can also seek advice on editing or changing your IWIC membership e-mail address or status at any time by contacting the President directly care of iwic@gol.com.
  • We reserve the right to send you certain communications relating to IWIC services, such as service announcements, administrative messages, and special event messages, without offering you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving them.
  • You can edit or change your IWIC membership email address at any time by accessing your membership details on Yahoo Groups.

 

Information from Children

The IWIC web site, blog and mailing list is not intended for use by children. IWIC will not, on its behalf, ever knowingly collect or post any personal information from children under the age of eighteen without their parents’ or guardians’ permission.

Changes to Collection and Use of Information

IWIC intends to comply with the above privacy provisions for the indefinite future. However, IWIC reserves the right to modify, amend, or terminate the provisions with or without notice to you. We also reserve the right to apply any such change retroactively to information we hold, regardless of the terms of the policy or statement in existence at the time we collected the information.
